“Michelangelo of ACHS”
You may have seen her walking around campus as if she just got off of a photoshoot for Cosmopolitan: Berke Nauright, American Canyon’s resident Michelangelo. The most valuable thing to ever come out of the death of access was packtime, a sloppy integration of the classes at AC during the 2017-18 school year. I was lucky enough to not only be placed in the same packtime as Berke, but also the same art class.
Since meeting her, I’ve been dazzled by her effortless skill in a myriad of mediums: watching her paint, sculpt, and sketch is a sight to behold. In fact, her proclivity toward art has led her to become the PR officer for ACHS’s Art Club. Berke is an artist overflowing with originality and talent in every media she tries her hand at. Her talents became even more humbling to me when I learned she was not only two grades behind me, but had also skipped a grade in elementary school. A true prodigy.
In addition to her artsy flair, Berke is fantastically intelligent. While she may not be packing a 4.0 like some of the rabid academics on our campus, she is down-to-earth, mature, and witty: a treat to hold a conversation with. I would love to talk to Berke all day about the philosophy behind making art, color schemes, and what her ideal Sunday would be as she casually creates a masterpiece—but, alas, she is too cool for me.
As if Berke wasn’t well-rounded enough, my homegirl plays (in my opinion) one of the most underrated sports, tennis. She’s among the best tennis players ACHS has to offer, which comes as no surprise as Berke brings the same determined spirit and winning energy to everything she’s passionate about. The class of 2021, and ACHS as a whole, is made all the more all the more exceptional thanks to students like Berke.
Though I’ve pulled out my dictionary trying to find the right words to describe how much I love and respect and admire this kid, nothing comes close. Keep your ears open for the name Berke Nauright because we’re all going to be hearing about her in the future when she’s famous and getting the recognition she deserves. *mic drop*

“The Carrot Queen That Inspires Us All”
When Kayla Mathews and I first came up with the idea of dedicating a written piece to student recognition and appreciation (because we’re both lovey dovey like that), I began to create a mental list of all the students I would want to be admired and appreciated by absolutely everyone. Tamarah Childs was the first one on that list.
Tamarah is a one of a kind person with exceptional character, diligence, and a unique humor that makes her a person you genuinely want to be around. I’ve had the privilege of knowing her since my freshman year of high school, and despite grappling with life-altering experiences in her home life, I’ve witnessed her ability to not only persevere, but flourish despite her circumstances. While some may have allowed those experiences to bleed into their school life, she’s managed to maintain her Valedictorian record since her freshman year.
In all honesty, I don’t want these student appreciation posts to simply be about the student with the good GPA. But, Tamarah is THAT girl on every level, including academics. She works tirelessly to produce work that is of the greatest quality, and never ceases to amaze me with her creativity and talent in writing. Outside of her academics, Tamarah is an amazing friend. She’s someone I’ve never felt I had to withhold anything from, she can always tell when I am not in a good place, and is more than ready to talk me through it. On more than one occasion she has been a shoulder for me to cry on, and every time, her words and support have left me with a more optimistic outlook on my experience, as if everything would be just fine.
Aside from her magnetic personality, and above average work ethic, Tamarah is also my role model as far as self-care. There’s no such thing as frugality when it comes to her collection of essential oils, herbal teas, and various other skin care tools; Her skin care regimen is one that I’ve absolutely coveted for the longest time, and I think we all need to take a page out of her book when it comes to self love.
In my eyes, Tamarah is the definition of strength, beauty, and confidence.
Let me just end on this: Tamarah is THAT girl. PERIOD.
